About - James Bylett
I am an amateur photographer based in Cambridgeshire in the UK. My love of photography started when I accepted a spontaneous offer from a friend to join him on a holiday to Africa and decided to get an a half decent digital camera to enable me to capture the wildlife out there. From there things quickly snowballing from a casual interest to come back with some nice holiday snaps into a keen interest in improving my knowledge and ability with a camera, not to mention upgrading the equipment at my disposal. I also run my own personal blog/gallery website, www.billabong-photos.co.uk. My photography covers a range of subjects, primarily animals both domestic and wild, but my real passion is for what got me started on it in the first place, wildlife, most notably my favourite animals, big cats, which you may notice comprise a fair percentage of my content. Unfortunately constraints on my time and finances prevent me from spending as much time and money as I might like on capturing animals in their natural habitat, not to mention the fact that the majority of my favourite subjects cannot be found natively in the UK, so while where possible I do try to take photos naturally in the wild, I make no secret of the fact that a lot of my work comes from wildlife sanctuaries in the UK, where I strive to make my photos look as natural as possible in the absense of a truly natural environment to work in. All my photos are taken on high range Nikon equipment to ensure high quality results and content will be updated any time I have an opportunity to partake in another photo shoot.
