About - Felix Hug

Felix Hug was born in Switzerland at the beginning of the carneval (Fasnacht season) season in 1964. To be precise: 11.11.1964, almost at 11.11 am ;-) I’m not sure how much that indicated already an unconventional lifestyle to follow, but truth been told, influenced by his late father , who was passionate about painting he always had a love for design and the arts. In the 1980s he started a career in design and architecture, only to be interrupted by shooting professionally hoops for a basketball team in Europe. With Basketball came lots of traveling and with the inherited Konica from his to soon gone dad the first images from all over Europe. His friends had a similar passion and they would treat each other in night long slide sessions from their travel journeys until their eyes fell shut. It took Felix however until 2003, to turn his back completely on an attempt of a traditional lifestyle in Project management for construction and design, to decide that travel photography, is what he likes to do fro living. Since 2003 he had tired less worked on a career in travel & destination photography that brought him worldwide recognition in the field. In 2007, he and Jamie Boyd founded the company Eyes On Asia in Singapore. The aim: Inspire people through positive travel images to have a alternative view on life. He has won First prizes or Grand prize Awards in the following competitions: @ 2004 Asian Geographic Grand Prize, Singapore @ 2005 International Photography Awards, USA, 1st prize @ 2007 Go Indie (PDN), Travel Professionals, 1st prize @ 2008 American Photo, Image of the Year Nature @ 2008 Travel Photographer Of The Year, Best Image in a Portfolio @ 2009 The New York Photography Awards, Editorial Image of the Year Many runner ups, 3rd prices and mentionings, inlcuding a finalist spot at the Nat Geo World in Focus contest. His clients include Singapore Airlines (Silk Air), Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts and others. His images have been published in countless magazines, Including GEO, GEO Saison, PHOTOGRAPHIE, Nat Geo Traveler, Australian Traveler, Conde Nast, Travel & Leisure. He writes a travel photography column for the Asian Geographic Passport magazine in Singapore. His resort images have been used on billboards in airports, in trains, on CNN and other places. In 2007 he had an exhibition for VIP guests only of a private bank in the National Museum of Singapore. Since 2008 Felix is running under his and his partner Jamie Boyd’s label Eyes on Asia travel photography workshops in Singapore and the Asian Pacific region. He lives in Singapore and his images can be seen in changing exhibitions at the restaurant SPRUCE in Singapore, which is run by chef Travis Masiero from Boston.
